CinemaNext Completes Advanced Installation at Martinique's Newest Multiplex

CinemaNext has completed the technical integration for Les Toiles du Sud, Martinique's newest five-screen multiplex which opened December 12, 2024. The €27 million complex, operated by the Elizé Group in Rivière-Salée, represents the latest advancement in theatrical exhibition for the French Caribbean region and demonstrates CinemaNext’s ability to handle complex projects across the globe.

The 5,000-square-meter facility features 962 seats across five screens equipped with Barco SP4K-B laser projectors and integrated ICMP-X servers. The audio implementation combines Dolby 7.1 surround sound systems in four auditoriums, with one premium screen equipped with Dolby Atmos immersive audio. The installation utilises Crown amplifiers and Dolby DMAs paired with JBL and MAG speakers, complemented by Harkness Perlux and Clarus screens for the highest audio and projection standards.

"Les Toiles du Sud represents one of the most technically sophisticated cinema installations in the Caribbean region," says Matthew Jones, Managing Director of CinemaNext Netherlands. "Every aspect of the integration, from the laser projection systems to the immersive audio solutions, meets or exceeds the standards found in leading European multiplexes. This installation sets a new benchmark for theatrical exhibition in the Caribbean market."

"The technical specifications of Les Toiles du Sud were a crucial element in our development strategy," says Alexandra Elizé, Chief Executive Officer at Les Toiles du Sud. "Working with CinemaNext allowed us to achieve the superior quality standards we envisioned for this flagship venue, ensuring we could deliver an exceptional cinema experience to our audiences in southern Martinique."

The complex's infrastructure includes a QSYS-controlled UPS system to ensure uninterrupted operation, while CinemaNext's Theater Management System and automation solutions enable seamless programming across all screens, as well as remote diagnostics and pre-emptive maintenance support.

The new multiplex serves an urban population of over 120,000 residents and complements the Elizé Group's existing Madiana complex in Schoelcher. Alexandra Elizé, president of Les Toiles du Sud, has stated an aim of attracting 330,000 annual visitors with a diverse programming strategy that includes both mainstream and art house films. The opening slate featured titles like "Gladiator II", "Anora", and "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" in their original language versions.

Beyond cinema technology, the facility includes a 365-square-meter interactive games area, multiple dining options including an Elizé snack bar and a rooftop reception space exceeding 300 square meters. The building also incorporates sustainable features such as rooftop solar panels for greater sustainability.

The project, designed by Argos PM with interior architecture by Stanislas Lafosse-Marin, was financed through a combination of private equity, FEDER funds, and tax credits. This installation marks CinemaNext's expansion in the Caribbean market while bringing mainland European exhibition standards to Martinique's growing cinema sector.
