CinemaNext Contributes to Türkiye's First IMAX Laser Projection Systems Installation for World Cinezone

CinemaNext, the leading cinema solutions provider in Europe, has successfully collaborated with IMAX Corporation's engineering team in completing the installation of Türkiye's first IMAX with Laser projection systems for World Cinezone, marking a significant milestone in the country's exhibition technology landscape. The installation project, supported by CinemaNext's Türkiye Country Manager, Turgay Gürsoy, encompasses state-of-the-art IMAX theaters at World Cinezone Marmara Forum in Istanbul and World Cinezone Gordion in Ankara.

The installations are part of World Cinezone's broader partnership with IMAX Corporation, announced earlier this year, which will bring four IMAX with Laser systems to Türkiye.

Commenting on the successful installation, Turgay Gürsoy stated, "Working with strong partners like World Cinezone and IMAX gives us a chance to show our skills and experience in all parts of digital cinema integration. I believe this kind of partnership adds a lot to the cinema experience all around Türkiye. We are happy to be a part of this milestone project and will continue supporting our partners and any other operators in our market for all of their needs."

World Cinezone Founder Muzaffer Yıldırım highlighted the transformative nature of the installation: "Our cinemas were personalized with features that comply with IMAX standards and turned into brand new halls," adding that the superior image quality would be a significant draw for moviegoers.

The new IMAX with Laser installations feature cutting-edge 4K laser projection technology, offering unprecedented image clarity and the widest color spectrum available. CinemaNext's technical team worked alongside IMAX engineers to implement a 12-channel multifunctional sound system, a first in Türkiye, designed to provide uniform audio distribution throughout the specially configured stadium-style seating.

IMAX Senior Vice President John Schreiner announced at a launch event for the first screen that a record number of Filmed For IMAX filmswill be introduced to local audiences in 2025. Among the most anticipated releases this year are a new “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” and the third “Avatar” film.

The successful implementation of these advanced systems positions Türkiye among the top ten highest-grossing European markets for IMAX in 2024. "We plan to increase cinema attendance to 60 million this new year with our new technology," said Yıldırım, demonstrating confidence in the investment's potential impact on the market.

World Cinezone CEO A. Hakan Askar emphasized the importance of working with experienced partners: "At World Cinezone, our mission has always been to provide our audience with the service level and quality that cinema truly deserves. The expertise of CinemaNext in implementing these complex systems has been crucial to achieving this goal."

Two additional IMAX with Laser locations are scheduled to open in 2025 and 2026, with CinemaNext continuing to support the installation and fitting work for World Cinezone's expansion. This ongoing collaboration represents a significant step forward in Türkiye's cinema exhibition technology, promising to deliver unprecedented viewing experiences to audiences across the country.
