CinemaNext Refurbishes Morasol Cinema in Madrid with Premium Inorca Seating

CinemaNext has successfully completed the refurbishment of Morasol Cinema, located in the heart of Madrid. Known for its prime location near the Auditorio Nacional de Música and prestigious international business schools, the Morasol Cinema now boasts a completely revamped auditorium that offers a premium viewing experience for the Spanish capital’s film lovers.

Hall 6 of the cinema has been upgraded with 73 luxurious recliner seats from INORCA, replacing the previous 191 standard seats. Among these, 61 are Recliners on Risers (RoR), allowing the cinema to maintain its original stadium seating layout without altering the depth of the steps. This renovation introduces an entirely new level of comfort and privacy for moviegoers, with each seat featuring dual motors for personalized reclining, an individual table with a cupholder, and a “goose” light for added convenience.

The newly installed INORCA Malibu seats offer dual motors for independent adjustment of both the backrest and seat rest, giving viewers the flexibility to control their recline angle. The design prioritizes both luxury and privacy, with double armrests ensuring maximum comfort. Each seat is also equipped with a cupholder and personal lighting, elevating the viewing experience, while maintaining the overall impression of understated luxury.

Walter Wiesner, EMEA Sales Manager Seating & Outfitting - Premium Solutions at CinemaNext, commented, “Working with the Morasol team on this project was both rewarding and challenging. Adapting the risers row by row to maintain the original configuration while enhancing the cinema’s premium offering has resulted in a stunning transformation. We’re thrilled with the outcome and the positive response from both the client and moviegoers.”

The refurbishment required intricate coordination, as the auditorium had undergone multiple redesigns in the past, leading to non-standardized risers. Adapting the RoR system to fit the space involved detailed customization, executed row by row. CinemaNext Spain, awarded as the turn-key subcontractor, successfully managed the complex modifications while ensuring the cinema remained operational throughout much of the process. This successful collaboration with Morasol reflects CinemaNext's commitment to delivering bespoke, high-quality solutions for independent exhibitors.

In addition to the seating transformation, CinemaNext Spain supplied and installed new railings for each row and extended the screen frame. This upgrade enhanced the projection area for both FLAT and SCOPE formats, providing a more immersive visual experience for audiences. A surcharge of €4 will be applied to tickets for the premium seating experience, reflecting the elevated comfort and quality now offered.

From the installation of 73 premium seats to managing the screen enlargement and subcontracting construction work, CinemaNext Spain played a pivotal role in this transformation of a truly unique cinema. The cinema’s owner expressed high satisfaction with the seamless execution and the resulting high-end atmosphere of the newly refurbished auditorium, which has been thrilling local cinema goers since its reopening 21 September. Iñaki Núñez, owner of Morasol, said: “It has been a great pleasure to work with Inorca and CinemaNext. The coordination of work has been very satisfactory. The human team that has worked has also been very professional, and punctual with the commitments. And the room has frankly become cozy and really luxury”.

Located at 4 Pradillo Street, Morasol Cinema is a beloved independent exhibitor in Madrid. Its eight-screen facility is equipped with the latest cinema technology, including 4K UHD image quality and Dolby Stereo 7.1 surround sound. The recent upgrade to Hall 6 solidifies Morasol Cinema as a go-to destination for those seeking a modern and luxurious cinematic experience in Madrid.
